FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What to Expect? The day goes from 10am to 8pm - seems like a long time, but it goes by so fast! The day is a mix of prayer, thought provoking talks from International Catholic Speaker Paul J. Kim, discussion time, making new friends and high energy fun! Opportunities for the Sacrament of Confession, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, sports time in the gym, meeting Catholic vendors and more are also available.
Who should attend? Anyone age 13-19 who wants to spend a day with others reflecting on being awakened to the presence of God in their lives and looking for inspiration in growing closer to Jesus and being a good example for others.
Is there a cost? Yes. EARLY Registration is available (only until January 17, 2025!) for $35 per registrant. Beginning January 18, 2025, the Registration Fee is $50. Registration Fee includes registration, lunch, dinner, snacks all day, and any materials needed for the day. All payments are to be made via ETransfer to [email protected]; however schools, church groups and Dioceses can make alternate payment plans for their group. If there is a cancellation, refunds of 50% will be offered for 30 days or more prior to the Conference, however no refunds will be given within 30 days of the Conference.
What should we bring? Students are free to bring comfortable clothing that is appropriate for a Catholic-centered event and a reusable water bottle. Also suggested is a journal, Rosary or any other prayer helps. Phones are permitted but we ask that they be used only on the designated break times.
What about Overnight Accommodations? Groups from Dioceses, parishes, youth groups or schools that are travelling have the option to book their own overnight accommodations in the City of North Bay. The Conference is held at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall (675 O'Brien Street, North Bay) if you wish to search for accommodations close by. Simple Accommodations on gym floors, or parish halls, are available to travelling groups only who have ample chaperones according to Diocese or School Board policies. Please contact us to make these arrangements.
Are Adults allowed to attend? Groups from Dioceses, parishes, youth groups or schools should have the proper number of chaperones as is designated by your own Diocese or School Board with proper Safe Environment policies being followed. Teenagers who register without a group or parish do not need adult accompaniment, but require to have properly filled out Emergency Contact on their registration form.
Adults who are not accompanying youth to the Conference are not permitted to register.
Are Priests/Deacons and Religious welcome to attend? Yes! We would very much appreciate the attendance of any priests, deacons or religious to attend this conference. Priests attending are invited to help us with Confessions and concelebrate at Mass. Priests from outside the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie will have to inquire about an Authorization for Ministry form, together with providing a Letter of Good Standing from their Ordinary. This can be done by contacting us.
Want to Volunteer? Adults over the age of 21 who are interested in Volunteering at the Northern Ontario Catholic Leadership Conference will be required to fulfill the obligations of the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie's Safe Environment policy including a Criminal Background Check. Volunteers are accepted on an as-need basis. Please contact us to volunteer.
